Chiropractic
Pain is an indicator that your body has been struggling to cope with
daily stresses and strains for some time and cannot accommodate any
further stress, be this physical, chemical or emotional. Stressors
are abundant in daily life and include work and family demands, poor
posture, unsupportive seating (especially car seats), poor diet etc.
Your system can only take so much before symtoms start to develop.
The aim of Chiropractic treatment is not only to offer pain relief
but also to help restore the body's ability to cope with the challenge
of daily life.
Chiropractors use an holistic approach to diagnosis
and treatment of conditions related to the "neuro-musculo-skeletal"
system. This means that they assess the human body in its entirety
and treat nerve, muscle and joint problems. Chiropractic care involves
a variety of non-forceful manipulative and massage techniques.
SACRO-OCCIPITAL TECHNIQUE (SOT)
This is a comprehensive and advanced concept of Chiropractic and forms
the basis of treatment offered by Claire Gordon at The Clifton Practice.
The concept of SOT is that the skull, spine and pelvis function as
a single unit. Dysfunction in one part of the unit will affect the
other parts. SOT addresses not only mechanical dysfunction, but also
the effects of this on nerve and organ function. It can influence
a wide range of lung, stomach, liver, kidney and glandular conditions
not normally associated with Chiropractic care.
CRANIO SACRAL TECHNIQUE
The word 'Craniosacral' refers to the Cranium (skull) and the Sacrum
(the "keystone" of the pelvis that supports the spinal column). This
therapy recognises the link between the body's membrane network and
structures to which membranes attach. Treatment is via a gentle hands-on
technique that can be used to address: joint and muscular complaints,
jaw dysfunction, headaches, migraines, circulatory, sinus, lung, stomach,
bowel and glandular disorders.
